Small patrol hovercraft allow access to areas that no other vehicles can reach, so they are ideal for patrolling shallow water areas, tidal mud, sand, ice, grass etc. When speed of access is important, hovercraft are true all-terrain vehicles, and can travel from land to sea, back to land without delay, simply by a flick of the wrist.

With no propeller to snag on under-water obstructions, hovercraft can safely operate in areas out of bounds to conventional marine craft. Tidal areas don’t restrict hovercraft as they fly above any flat surface. They can even navigate fast flowing rivers, so in all sorts of terrain, and any time of the tidal day, they can deliver patrol personnel precisely to where they need to reach, and fast.

Patrol hovercraft play an essential role in coastal defense strategy. The threat of terrorist attack from the sea or river right into the heart of a large city is possible with devastating impact. Hovercraft for patrol applications

Hovercraft are very useful for patrolling large areas of coastal border, especially in areas of shallow water, or tidal areas where depth of water and submerged rocks or mangrove tree roots can damage conventional boat propellers.

The Hov Pod SPX 120 Turbo is a 2 man hovercraft unit which reaches speds of up to 45 miles per hour. Hovercraft make more stable platforms than boats, and have a very light footprint. The Hov Pod hull is manufactured from HDPE, so very strong yet lightweight and buoyant.

Military Patrol / Homeland Security Hovercraft

Hovercraft Patrol

Hovercraft are very useful vehicles to have around in an emergency, particularly for homeland defence in coastal areas for patrolling shallow waters, mangrove areas etc. Hovercraft are very useful for rescue in mud, sand or icy terrain, for oil pipeline inspection, immigration control. 

Military Patrol

Hovercraft manufacturer, Reaction International Ltd reports an upsurge in interest from military personnel for border patrol in shallow water areas. Their hovercraft carry two commandos with military equipment and can traverse over any flat terrain, so they are really useful for border patrol in areas inaccessible to conventional vehicles. With no propeller to get damaged, hovercraft have no problem in shallow water areas, and ofcourse are happy to fly over mud, sand, ice, snow, indeed any flat surface at speeds up to 40 mph.

Hovercraft coastal patrol

As recent events have shown, terrorist attacks are becoming increasingly brazen, the Mumbai incursions were in effect, small scale invasions. Small two man patrol hovercraft are more easily deployable and cost effective than many conventional patrol boats, and have the added advantage that they can fly over mud and sand at low tide, even travel at speed over land to ward off surprise attacks in coastal regions.

With no submerged propeller to worry about, submerged rocks, coral, manatees are not a problem. Hovercraft fly at a height of 9 inches above the surface so you can fly from water to mud, sand, grass, land, ice, snow at speeds up to 45 mph.

The Hov Pod patrol hovercraft is manufactured from HDPE high impact polyethylene with underside protection to withstand impacts that might quickly immobilise a glass fibre hull.
